Membership
Membership limited to 275 dues paying members, plus life memberships. Managed by the Executive Committee, elected every other year by the membership. Annual Dues: $100.00 Payable by 7/1 each year. Initiation Fee: $100.00 (one time). Although there are no current openings, applicants may go on a waiting list at no charge in the order in which they are logged in by the club secretary.

Membership remains at the limit and applications keep coming in. Applicants go on the waiting list in the order in which their completed application is received and logged by the club secretary. Openings occur when regular members do not renew by September 1 or they move on to “Life” membership (20 years membership + 65 years old), where they are no longer counted against the limit. It varies from year to year, but usually less then ten openings are created each year. As of May 1, 2010 there are about 40 applications pending. New additions to the waiting list should expect to wait four years for an opening. We do not acknowledge receipt of an application or report individual progress or position on the list. Applicants may contact the club secretary or president to inquire about their status. There is a great demand on the clubs in this area to open up to more shooters. Abe Lincoln Gun Club has raised its membership limit three times in eight years. This has temporarily eased the pressure each time, but also created a challenge to the Executive Committee to keep the facilities safe and orderly. We do not anticipate another increase in the foreseeable future. We really are a small club when it comes to range space. Use of the facilities by a greater number of people requires the highest degree of cooperation and safe practices by all. ALGC is at the mercy of the conduct of its members and their guests for its survival. The club owes it to its members and to the community to monitor itself responsibly in regard to safe operation and oversight of its use. New members always introduce an unknown factor into the equation, and the new members’ guests multiply the risk. ALGC regrets it cannot accommodate everyone seeking membership. We encourage non-members to utilize the club’s liberal guest policy or participate in the open-to-the-public CMP events each month while waiting. Applications are not available on-line, but can still be obtained at the club sign-in desk or from the club secretary or president.
