ALGC has been a long-time cooperator with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources by participating in IDNR land management programs. ALGC was enrolled in the "Acres for Wildlife" program for more than two decades until it was replaced in 2007 by the "Conservation Stewardship Program". Approximately 80% of the club property is currently enrolled in the CSP program.
ALGC CSP acres support most common flora and fauna found in Sangamon County. Deer, turkey, rabbit, squirrel and wood duck are some of the animals observed on club property. The club CSP arces support both breeding and migratory birds. Blue birds, wood ducks and owls use the nest boxes which have been installed at the club.
The club is currently attempting to expand stands of Milkweed to support our Monarch Butterfly habitat.
Any members interested in assisting ALGC Wildlife and Conservation Officer, Pat Malone, with CSP projects may use the email link below to have your name added to the volunteer list.
